For the first time since 2018, the Oak Hills Highlands are 1-0 to start a season. After a back-and-forth night, Oak Hills took the final lead with 4:45 left in the fourth quarter courtesy of an eight-yard run by quarterback Jaxon Schreiber. Oak Hills had taken a 17-13 lead seconds into the final quarter before coughing it back up on a 55-yard pick six from Karson Kidd. Schreiber sealed the win with 58 seconds left on a 29-yard run. Schreiber rushed 16 times for 121 yards, but it was Demar Parker Jr. that led with 121 yards on 21 carries with a score. Through the air, Schreiber was 10-17 for 118 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Oak Hills will kickoff its nine-game conference at Sycamore next while week while Turpin will try to avoid going 0-2 for the first time since 2017 with a visit from Kings.

Kings secured a commanding win over Sycamore thanks to Will Kocher’s 354 passing yards and 162 receivng yards and three touchdowns from Michael Mussari. Brady Wik had two interceptions and Paul Kelly returned one of his own for a touchdown. League play begins next week for both team as Kings visits Turpin and Sycamore hosts Oak Hills.

Middletown 47, Loveland 33 – FINAL
Middletown is 1-0 for the first time since 2019 and has matched its win total from all of last season after a triumphant road performance Friday night. The Middies did it with defense, forcing four turnovers (all interceptions) with pick-sixes from Quintin Russell and Mikell Dorn. Offensively, Middletown had success through the air with a pair of Kellen Davis touchdown tosses and three rushing scores from Lemond Chambers, who ran for 84 yards on nine attempts. Eric Schroeder led the Middies with 94 yards on the ground over 16 attempts. Loveland, which had one of the ECC’s top offenses last season, split time with quarterbacks Jake Svitkovich and Julius Vorbroker, each throwing two touchdowns. Colton Endicott led the Tigers’ backfield with 117 rushing yards on 17 carries.

Milford’s defense got to Edgewood quarterback Riley Brown for two sacks and one interception. Next week, Milford faces ECC opponent Lebanon and Edgewood has a matchup with Clinton Massie.

The defending Ohio Division II state champs haven’t lost a step so far a year later. The Warriors led Trotwood Madison 32-0 after three quarters of play, ending up 39-16 winners with a fresh 1-0 record in 2022. Quarterback Van George and receiver Carlos Cox Jr. proved to be a strong combination as the two connected for two receptions on 68 yards, both ending as touchdowns. George was an efficient 11-15 passing for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns. James Minor III led the way on the ground, gobbling up 90 yards and a touchdown on 10 rushes. On the defensive side, Jermaine Mathews Jr. forced and recovered two fumbles.

The Cowboys defense pitched a shutout to notch their first win of the season. It was only the second time Harrison has been shutout since 2013. Wyoming has now won 58 consecutive regular-season games, dating back to 2015.

Clermont Northeastern Rocket Jake Mott was the do-it-all man in the week one win, scoring twice on rushing touchdowns while picking up a sack and an interception on defense. A 95-yard fumble return by Mitch Bradencapped Clermont Northeastern’s night, but a near shutout was lost as Clark scored with single-digit ticks left remaining. Rockets QB Josh Groeber was 3-3 for 81 yards and a touchdown while Mott had 16 carries for 128 yards and his pair of scores. The Rockets continue the year at Miami Valley Christian next Friday while Clark Montessori will meet Riverview East on Saturday.
